This beer ingredient kit pays homage to the best beer in the world, Westvleteren 12.
Brewed by the Trappist Abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren in Belgium. Westvleteren has the smallest output of the Trappist breweries, with only a small part of their production available outside of Belgium. Except for rare occasions such as when they were raising funds to upgrade the brewery, it is only available at the doors of the Abbey.
So, if you can't buy it, BREW IT!
This beer is a deep dark reddish brown that will leave a nice thin lace on the glass. The aroma hints of dried fruit (raisins/plums) and as it warms up it come alive. The dark fruits intensify and aromas of cheery, figs, caramel, licorice, chocolate and the alcohol poke through like a fine sherry.
The flavor has notes of caramel, dried raisins, prunes, figs, vanilla, sweet (but not too sweet) candy sugar, some licorice, a hint of cherries and a mild spiciness.
This is a very drinkable intense complex beer that will taste great young but will also develop and get better with age. Tasting it after 3-4 years of aging will bring tears of joy to your eyes.
Our ingredient kits use only the highest quality ingredients and are assembled when you order.
